Bird Call

I pulled out the Elsa Fitzgerald design binders and found the list of retailers to reach out to and updated the email signature and began to write. I introduced myself and the house and inquired about stopping by to show some of the dresses. Some steps are so small, but huge leaps happen when we trust and keep growing.

I responded to an inquiry about a custom dress and reviewed the Tower Raven fashion film with the Gabrielle dress. I contacted the Maryland Historical Society about taking measurements from the dress since I donated the original to be a part of their fashion archive collection.

I pulled out my inspiration fashion history books and began to clear space. I want to see old world elegant fashion sewn for the modern woman. I am here to sing my life song by designing and sewing the fashion dream life I have always known in my heart. I hope you too begin stepping towards your greatest calling one small but big decision at a time.

When building my fashion house in Bali, I would spend time in this village where my friend lived. I was first brought there on a textile research adventure seeking a particular Balinese lace embroidery method. In time I built friendships and connection to the community where I started a free-english school and an award winning program the Art Village Education Hub (AVEH).

As the Designer in Residence for the Maryland Historical Society I saw the most beautiful but delicate dresses in some cases both inside and outside. It was a remarkable to move from the pages of historic fashion text to see these beautiful elements of fashion history.

I can still feel the aura and allure of my original Elsa Fitzgerald inspiration design boards and the voice of the sewing workroom owner saying, make what you love. We will get it done.

In time I had Balinese embroidery made with color inspiration from my vintage lingerie inspiration boards. I would love to merge my passion for lace and Indonesian fashion and textiles.
