Morning Light

This is the part of the movie I love, when the leading lady stops playing the victim song and begins to fight. She starts doing all the right things to achieve the results she had in her grasp all along. The tides begin to change because she stood up. She stopped letting life knock her down. She gathers the clues and finds her inner power.

Surf Spot

Stumbling upon the words and showing up in your most awkward unprepared self is far better than leaving that idea on the shelf. A beautiful library of books untouched is like a lovely gown never worn. Try on this life even when the shifts do not feel right. Growth is confusing because the natural state prefers to stay the same. Don’t let the uncomfortable moments when moving forward convince you that you should turn back.

Lightning Strikes

Say no to the things that are nice, but do not align with your path. It is so easy to get side tracked for various reasons, but now is the time to stay laser focused. It is easy to waffle through time and years will pass and you will wonder where the dream went. It has been waiting on the road you ignored many miles back. If you need to turn around to reroute yourself then go right ahead, but stop grabbing at a life that was not meant for you.

Driving Dreams

I don’t care how many times you have to stop and start this dream, but I need you to begin. I also need you to keep going. Do not talk yourself out of each step saying things that leave you in doubt. This is your once in a lifetime moment to show up and so let’s make it count. Let’s put aside the reasons it won’t work and let’s just do the work. Don’t let the noise of the world cloud the judgment of your heart. Let your inner magic win.

Fashion Friendship

Everything was all wrong, my hair was clinging to my face and it was so cold outside just before filming, but still I arrived just shy of one-minute from our start film time. I walked into the workroom and saw Jill working on a beautiful gown that looked like it could be from a book around the history of finely made fashion. I recognized the custom made flower from the New York supplier utilizing dye cutting methods that landed on floral sewn dresses.

Keep Growing

To think it will ever get easier is a disservice to the mind. It never does get easier, you just get better at resisting the urge to back down. I have a checklist of activities that mix between personal promises and doing the work that moves the needle forward on my fashion dreams. It has started with handwritten letters with notes of gratitude and now two bolts of fabric I have meant to sew for a friend many years back.

Seeds Sprouting

Do not feel discouraged when you are not seeing results. The impact of the seeds you have planted will not surface overnight, but you must keep watering your passions and give it the light and attention it needs. Also this is not a success or failure metric, but a let’s get out of the way and start to believe in those flutters that make the heart beat.

Pushing Back

My hands are stained with ink from the previous mornings writing. I have pulled out my quill and old world papers out. I used to love writing notes about life to friends and family near and far. It has been on my list, but I have been getting distracted and honestly it just takes time. From the quill to balancing ink levels manually to melting the wave to seal.

Life Lived

Begin to breathe and live the things you love. Not sure why this happens, but often we live without the joys of life. We put off our passions, hobbies and dreams for a day we never receive. Not because we could not have these things, but rather we have not chosen them. By not investing in the things that matter we leave behind a part of happiness unrealized.

Creativity Climbs

There is this odd, but familiar joy I have found with creative writing. It is like reconnecting with an old friend that you have not seen in years. Your heart warms and there is this slight excitement for that open door. So you go on and explore yourself and the parts that you thought you had left behind. There is still time to change the course of this life to do the things that matter most.

Just Type

When I embarked on this commitment to write every day, sick or feeling fine, I wondered to myself, 'Will I know what to write?' The truth is I am not the best with grammar and punctuation, but I love writing. It is a creative expression that allows the frustration and resolution to make its way onto the pages outside the circles of the mind. There is such beauty in the emotion of the written word that I adore and find magical.

Living Legacy

Sometimes we give up on our dreams. We tuck it away for another day, then we wake and years have passed to a place where we forget to breathe. Where once we lived to chase the current of our soul. What do you do with this force that wants to be made new?
