Focused Intent

Often we think of dreams as this concept that is floating in our minds and that we can will into reality. But the fun and miraculous truth is that we have the power to build our ideas into the world with passion and intentional direction. A dream is but a road map to our highest calling. It is the thing that excites the soul to jump out of bed to grow.

So when the morning calls you to live this day a different way, how will you respond to your destiny? Will you tell your heart to wait so you can have another hour to rest or will you surface from the glaze and make haste. Each day is a special gift to be the full expression of self. So make it count all the way to the end of your day. I trust that with time and a persistant pursuit those ideas will move beyond the mind.

It takes doing the hard work in harnessing the lever of will. Bringing forth that intention with courgeous zeal. Deep within the depths of your biggest fears are your most painful tears. For it is not the avoidance that saves but rather it is the main reason dreams die. We muffle the voice calling us to shine, we tell it we do not have time. Then one day we do not wake and regret the life we could have lived if only we tried.

Jump out of bed it is not too late, you are right on time to live a different sort of life. One that you honor the worry but do not let it stop you. Rather you let it move you forward to towards those visions that are forming in your hands those ideas and actions that are not asking but rather challenging you to ignore the doubts and step out and connect to the person you have always known yourself to be completely and joyfully free.

Crazy to admit it, but I had to go into the cold garage in order to bring out my unfinished design boards. In a black trash bag tied with a red draw string, I had almost buried the thing I love. I think it was easier than facing the disappointment for not showing up, not having the time.

This was my design studio boards when I lived in garment district of Bali, Indonesia from 2013-2016. It does not matter how many years it has been since you showed up to your dreams for it is the joy of building a dream into reality that makes all the difference.

My sister Juliana and I attending a traditional Indonesian wedding wearing our kebayas. She lived in Bali with me for 6-months during those color years on the island of the Gods.

I would have never guessed how much that traditional Indonesian garment would go on to inspire a wave of fashion design for my fashion house Maison Elsa Fitzgerald. Here wearing my most recent design the Kartini Kebaya Suit with the Betsy dress. Surrounded by the Baltimore Fashion Renaissance paintings. As the SEW BROMO works evolves into serving a global student body this time I will not leave my own dreams behind as I help others to build theirs. By standing in ones personal truth are we then able to bring forth the progress we hope to invest in the world through that work.
