Are you looking for high-quality industry level technical training at an accelerated pace? Our courses are taught by industry experts actively working in the fashion sector. You can choose from the fashion course menu below.

If you are interested in the entire program we offer this over a 2-day Fashion School Intensive.

The Fashion School Courses are $500 each and run for a one 5-hr session. After your booking we will email you to coordinate a time that works best for you and the Fashion Director who is teaching the program. We will also inquire on your learning needs and expectations to see if any adjustments need to be made to effectively support your growth during the training.

(1) Creating a Fashion Line: The A-Z of Collection Development

This course will cover all the basics of starting a fashion line from scratch—from inspiration to sketching to choosing textiles and trims. There’s a lot that goes into creating a cohesive collection and we’re here to get you started! This course will cover the following aspects of collection development:

·      Find your Inspiration: Creating Moodboards and Developing Your Color Story

You’ll gather inspiration from some of our favorite sources and create a mini-moodboard to help you start sketching your collection.

·      Using Croquis: Sketching Garments on a Form

Learn the basic elements of fashion illustration using croquis. We’ll help you start sketching out your collection and teach you how to edit your ideas into a cohesive line.

·      Merchandising & Pricing

Learn how to find your target market, Hi/Lo design and pricing strategies, and how to design with target price points in mind.

·      Textiles

Learn the basics of textiles including the difference between wovens and knits and their uses, textile types and terms, prints and patterns, natural vs. synthetic, and care for various fabric types.

(2) Intro to Patterns: Literacy, Manipulation & Drafting

In this course we cover pattern fundamentals so you have a foundation to use commercial patterns and start creating your own. You’ll learn:

·      Commercial vs. Production Patterns

How to read and use commercial patterns for your own projects and what you should expect your commercial patterns to look like if you hire a professional

·      Pattern Elements & Annotation

You’ll learn all about grainlines, notches, seam allowances, darts, and grading

·      Introduction to Flat Pattern Manipulation

Learn the basics of flat pattern technique with bodice and skirt slopers (blocks) to create patterns for your own designs. You’ll get to take home half-scale slopers so you can keep practicing!

·      Introduction to Pattern Drafting: Creating your own leggings

We’ll teach you how to take measurements and draft a basic leggings sloper to your specs, and how to make adjustments after fitting.

(3) Intro to Sewing - Wovens

Wovens are the most fundamental fabrics we work with, and there is a distinct set of skills needed to start working with them. In this course we will guide you through the industry methods of sewing a basic woven drawstring pant using sustainable, quality fashion fabrics. We’ll cover:

·      Setting up your sewing machine

·      Basic straight stitch functions

·      Slash and patch pockets

·      Drawstring waistband

·      Understitching

·      Topstitching

·      Hemming

·      Pressing techniques

(4) Intermediate Sewing - Wovens

We’ve created a dress that incorporates new skills to build on what you learned in Intro to Wovens. These skills will build confidence in your abilities and open up new possibilities for you to create projects at home. We’ll cover:

·      Darts

·      Gathers

·      Railroad zipper

·      On-seam pockets

·      Facings

·      Notched cuff

(5) Intro to Sewing - Knits

We love knits because of their ability to stretch, making them ideal for activewear, swimwear, loungewear, and other garments designed for comfort and movement. However, they require a different set of techniques when sewing. In this course we’ll guide you through making a basic tee shirt with sustainable, quality fashion fabric. We’ll cover:

·      Setting up your machine for knits and different stitch options

·      Pressing knits

·      Topstitching

·      Hemming

·      Inserting a ribbed neckband

Materials: Sewing Machine, fabric cutwork and tools will be provided during the course.
